Another month, and another issue of the WOX (World of XOOPS) Newsletter (see here previous versions). We are glad that you enjoy reading this newsletter and we appreciate your feedback!

Month of August was a very busy month for us - with new XOOPS 2.3 RC2 being released, and with work on the new Theme Gallery. But we also got great news with XOOPS being the finalist of Best PHP Open Source CMS. And we've got more modules and themes being released showing the creativity of the community, and we've seen more and more Websites around the world successfully utilizing XOOPS.

XOOPS 2.3 release is coming soon (hopefully in September). Check out the latest Release Candidate 2. In the meantime, we are still focusing on Marketing campaign preparation for the XOOPS 2.3 Release via a Competition for XOOPS 2.3 Marketing Materials. Check out the idea for our new Video promo - help us in making it a great one!

We continue with the XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to Herve Thouzard (hervet) from Instant Zero for his awesome OlÃ©drion eCommerce module, and to Jerry Pfeiffer (tank1955) for his cool Video Tube module.
The "XOOPSer of the Month" is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize two community members: Stefan Zagorchev (Stefan88) for his continues support of XOOPS users, and to Marc Desrousseaux (Marco) for his support and for testing/debugging of XOOPS 2.3.

X-Torrent is a complete torrent solution for Xoops 2.3, 2.2 & 2.0. There is a lot of potential in torrent sharing, this allows you a company, business, personal or educational institute to distribute data via torrents which is useful. Due to the large volume of difference between internet speeds in the world, torrents now consist of over 18% of broadband traffic. Torrents are becoming a commodity these day from small to large files.

Currently x-Torrent offers a large range of options, but we will be releasing a new version in around 6 months, if some spare time comes in we will be writing in more options and systems. x-Torrent is a module which offer full control of torrents in XOOPS, it will poll the torrents as well as download file information, seeds, leeches, trackers etc, of the torrent.

I will now work completely with PayPal integration and allows your end clients of your site, to charge for access and material by torrent services. This is useful for a wide range of commercial and business applications, from a MP3 house to a Movie Stand outlet, you can allow people to purchase any digital material via Torrent.

The announce appears from the file http://yoursite.com/modules/xtorrent/announce.php You can redirect this at the root with a .htaccess file to something that is shorter.

UHQ-RadioBasic v1.01 Released

It's with great pleasure I announce the first full release of UHQ-RadioBasic!

Originally born from the UHQ-Radio project, this basic edition's sole job is to provide a block which can provide a simple status for either a Shoutcast or IceCast based streaming radio station. It will also support an IceCast failover mount if you use one.

This module parses XML stat files only, and thus you will need to get the appropriate passwords from your stream host.

What is mytabs Module (v2.1) ?

With this Xoops module, your can create blocks with several tabs an blocks inside.

The module can :
. Create any blocks you want (just clone the original)
. Create any pages (holders for tabs) you want so you can choose in the block what page to show
. Create any tabs you want per page
. Create any blocks you want per tabs
. Set group view permissions per block/page, tab and block
. Set time based tabs and blocks (auto-expiring)
. Set blocks side: left, center or right.
. Choose from 9 different page/block layouts
. Use how many blocks you want in the same page or not (just clone and set them)
. Many other goodies like cache, position, scroll, width, Show/hide other divs, link tab to url, onmouseover selection, etc

Gifts45.com is focusing on social news too

After a long busy period, with no time for updates, we left other projects for a while, to implement onokazu's great social-news ( digg style ) module - Xigg

Gifts45.com is now a better platform for site promotion (or products promotion) and is focusing in the "Shopping / Gifts / Travel" fields of interest.
The site is heavily based on two main modules: weblinks and xigg (thank you Ohawada & ono for this exelent modules)

Our New Theme Gallery ready for Final Testing

In our constant drive to make XOOPS Website more user friendly, we have now our new XOOPS Theme Gallery ready for final testing. One missing item is still the breadcrump, but we are working on this.

Each Theme will have own preview panel, from which you'll be able to:

- see more info about the theme
- download the theme
- see a demo of the theme

If you click on the Theme thumbnail, you'll have a preview window with a larger picture of the theme. You'll be able to navigate to next or previous theme, or you can close the window and be back where you started. To close the preview window you can click anywhere on the screen.

Please let us know if you like this new XOOPS Theme Gallery.
